Record year for "rig moves"

- 2023 is probably the year with the most "rig moves" for us at FFS. But compared to many other shipping companies, we are still small in such operations, says operations manager Leif Steinar Simonsen.

- Each "rig move" usually takes between two and five days. Although the rates may be good, the assignments are not necessarily very lucrative. Because between each job there are often several days of unpaid downtime. Therefore, the total income is not always as good as on a long haul, explains the operations manager at FFS.

THE RIGS ARE MOVED regularly between fields. To do the job, three boats are usually required - one anchor handling vessel and two towboats. It is rare that FFS Arion and FFS Athos are hired on the same mission.

- It has probably only happened once this year. The jobs are very competitive, and usually boats from different shipping companies participate in the same "rig move", says Simonsen.

THIS AUTUMN HAS FFS Athos participated in rig moves by Prospector 1, Valaris 72, Swift 10 and Transocean Endurance.

After the summer, FFS Arion has moved on Valaris Norway, Transocean Equinox, Noble Integrator, Swift 10 and Noble Resolute.
