"FFS Arion is built to handle anchors. But it's not often used for this in connection with 'rig moves'. That's why we are very pleased with this assignment. We hope for more of these," says John W. Nilsen, CEO of Farmar.

The rig to be moved was Seafox 2, a self-elevating jack-up designed to operate in water depths of up to 50 meters. The unit can accommodate up to 235 people and performs various well services. It was built in 1985 but was upgraded in 2015.

"FFS ARION is one of our tugboats that participates in the most 'rig moves', usually as an assistance vessel. But this time, it got the job to handle the anchors," says Nilsen.

The anchors are lifted aboard the tugboat and set out again once the rig has found its new position.

"The rig stands on the seabed, and it uses four small anchors to move itself on the 'site'," says Nilsen.

THE FARMAR FLEET still carries the FFS name. But during the spring, as soon as the registration is approved, all vessels will be renamed.

Arion will be the first boat out. It will have the name Farmar Arion painted on the hull in white letters.
