- The season for rig moves is in full swing. Starting the winter months with this charter therefore fits very well, says John Nilsen, general manager of FFS.

The mission is to collect offshore wind modules on the Italian island of Sardinia and transport them on barges to the port town of Blyth in the north-east of England.

– WINTER TIME CAN this will be a demanding trip. Among other things, the Bay of Biscay will be passed twice, says Nilsen.

The area off the north coast of Spain and the west coast of France is known for its stormy weather, especially in winter.

FFS ARION has been lying in Farsund for the last few days and had a new towline coiled up. With a size of 45.5 by 14.6 metres, the towboat is the largest in the company's fleet.

Since December last year, it has had a permanent base in Thyborøn on the Danish west coast, in order to be close to the major shipping lanes in and out of the Baltic Sea. Many rig moves also start from the Danish and Dutch sectors.
