26. July 2025
Vessels are currently being built on a large scale in Poland, resulting in many northbound tows for Farmar’s tugboats.

“Vessels are often constructed as hulls in Poland and then towed to Norwegian shipyards for completion. We've been awarded several of these towing jobs,” says John W. Nilsen, Managing Director at Farmar.
Farmar Athos has just completed the tow of a large cable-laying vessel destined for construction by Nexans at Ulstein Verft. The journey went from Gdynia to Ulsteinvik.
BEFORE THIS, Farmar Athos towed a new fishing vessel from Gdańsk to the Båtbygg yard in Måløy.
The first Poland tow this spring was carried out by Farmar Arion. Once again, a fishing boat was picked up in Gdansk and transported to Larsnes Mek Verksted on the Møre coast.
POLISH SHIPYARDS are building a range of medium-sized vessels — from fishing vessels, cable-layers and offshore support vessels, to cargo and passenger ferries, and specialised ships for the wind power industry.
Shipyards in Gdańsk and Gdynia in particular supply partially outfitted hulls, which are often completed at Norwegian yards or at facilities owned by Norwegian shipowners — especially fishing vessels commissioned by Norwegian companies.
