Death diving from a Farmar boat

The event lasted two days and concluded with a death diving competition from 18 meters in Farsund's harbor basin. Both residents and tourists did not hesitate when they got the chance to see nine of the world's best death divers in action – including local Tore Våge from Lyngdal.

Rarely, if ever, have so many people been gathered in Farsund's city center.

THE DIVING TOWER was set up with scaffolding on Farmar Aton, which has a length of 100 feet and a width of nearly 50 feet.

"The placement of the diving tower in the middle of the harbor basin made the event very audience-friendly, as the participants jumped towards the crowd," says Mikalsen.

FARMAR CEO John W. Nilsen never had any doubts when asked to join the community festival effort.

"If this was to be carried out, we needed a platform that could remain completely still. Even small movements in the water become significant 18 meters up in the air. Farmar Aton is very stable and well-suited for this type of operation," says Nilsen.

HE DOES NOT hide the fact that providing the boat and helping with setting up and taking down the equipment is a significant contribution that would cost a few hundred thousand kroner at full price.

"At the same time, this is a concept that fits perfectly into Farmar's maritime domain and benefits all of Farsund. It’s just fun to be part of the effort and contribute what we can," says Nilsen, adding:

The committee deserves all the credit for execution and planning. What a team!"

THE COMPETITION itself was organized by ERV and Byggvell, who were also responsible for setting up the diving tower.

- "When we started planning VANNvittig moro at the end of May, we had no idea how big it was going to be. It's clear that Farsund has been thirsting for an event like this," says organiser Mikalsen, who is already planning next year's event.

- "We will do everything we can to repeat the success," he emphasises.
