In offices, on vessels, at quaysides and in windows, Farmar is set to become more visible. The company has purchased its first six digital information screens, which will be used both internally and to communicate with the public.
The aim is twofold: employees will gain quicker access to internal news, operational information, fleet locations and important safety messages. At the same time, people passing Farmar’s locations will get a better insight into what the company actually does.
"WE HAVE A great deal of activity around the clock, in many locations and with many vessels in operation. That makes it important to make information more accessible, both for our own employees and for the people around us," says John W. Nilsen, Managing Director of Farmar.
The screens will display content from Farmar’s new digital dashboard. On the internal screens, which will be placed on board the vessels and in the offices, employees will be able to follow news, vessel movements and relevant company messages.
Nilsen points in particular to the importance this will have for safety work.
"Safety alerts are a good example. When important information needs to be shared quickly, it should not get lost in emails or casual messages. It needs to be visible where people actually are," says Nilsen.
THE OTHER TYPE of screen will face the public. These will be placed in windows facing streets, quaysides and other areas where people pass by.
Here, Farmar will showcase its operations, vessels, services and company news.
"Many people see our vessels and our activity, but they may not always know what lies behind it. With these screens, we can open up a little more and show the breadth of what we do," says Nilsen.
FARMAR HAS so far purchased six screens, but the plan is to develop the solution further over time. The company envisages digital information screens becoming a permanent part of both its internal working environment and its external profile.
"We think it is a good way to show what is happening at Farmar. There is a lot going on in the company, and this makes it easier to share that with employees, customers and the public," says Nilsen.
